1. Understanding the Digital SAT & ACT
Digital SAT
Format: Now fully digital, adaptive, and shorter (approximately 2 hours and 14 minutes).
Sections: Two sections—Reading & Writing, and Math—with adaptive question difficulty.
Calculator: A built-in graphing calculator is available for all math questions.
ACT
Current Format: Paper-based, covering English, Math, Reading, and Science.
Optional Writing Section: Some colleges require it; check each school’s admissions policy.
Time Management: Critical due to the fast-paced nature of the test.
Upcoming Changes: A new digital version of the ACT will begin rolling out in April 2025, and by Fall 2025, the ACT will be available both on paper and digitally.
2. Creating a Study Plan
Start early. Begin preparing at least 1-3 months before the test date to ensure ample time for practice and improvement.
Consistent Weekly Practice: Set a study schedule of 2-3 hours per week. Consistency helps build skills and reduces test-day anxiety. Short timed intervals and understanding why you missed questions is key.

6. Bright Futures Scholarship Requirements

The Bright Futures Scholarship offers financial aid to Florida students based on GPA, test scores, and service hours. Students can continue taking the ACT®, CLT®, or SAT® until they achieve the required minimum score (tests accepted through August 31 of their high school graduation year).
Florida Academic Scholars (FAS) Requirements
GPA: 3.50 (weighted)
Test Scores:
2024–25 Graduates: ACT 29 | CLT 96 | SAT 1340
2025–26 Graduates: ACT 29 | CLT 95 | SAT 1330
Service Hours: 100 volunteer hours, or 100 paid work hours, or a combination of both.
Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS) Requirements
GPA: 3.00 (weighted)
Test Scores:
2024–25 Graduates: ACT 25 | CLT 84 | SAT 1210
2025–26 Graduates: ACT 24 | CLT 82 | SAT 1190
Service Hours: 75 volunteer hours, or 100 paid work hours, or a combination of both.
